Effective Sponsorship: Leaders as Agents of Change
Choose to Challenge Series
Inspired by this year’s International Women’s Day theme, Choose To Challenge, we’re hosting a series of workshops, panels, and chats, to rally for women’s equality, question stereotypes, callout biases, and encourage others to commit to forging a more inclusive world. Our goal is to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements as well as to educate our membership on ways they can continue to become better advocates for themselves and others.
From challenge comes change, which is why we encourage you to embark on a journey this March and join us as we navigate these challenges to build a more inclusive workplace and world.
About Effective Sponsorship: Leaders as Agents of Change
Research has shown that sponsorship, the act of actively helping advance the career of another, can be essential to career success. It helps open doors and leads to career development and advancement at an accelerated rate. Yet, 45 percent of men are more likely to have a sponsor than women across industry sectors and 71% of those sponsoring others reported that they are the same race or gender as their protégé. Few women reach the top of their organizations, and the lack of sponsors could be the reason.
As sponsorship comes from the top down, it will take transformational leaders and a collaborative corporate environment to champion true change. In this #ChooseToChallenge workshop, learn how to be a more effective advocate for high-potential employees, tap into the underutilized workforce of women, and build a strong sponsorship program within your company.
