If I weren't doing this [Entrepreneur] I would be...
I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, and problem-solving massive issues is in my DNA. I love the work that I do; my life's mission to eliminate the gender wage and leadership gaps is something that I am committed to at my core. If I weren't doing this, I would be engaged in work that advances black women to overcome systematic hurdles.
Three adjectives to best describe you:
Adventurous, Unapologetic, Big-Auntie Energy
Words to live by:
One of my favorite quotes by Shirley Chisholm is, "We must reject not only the stereotypes that others hold of us but also the stereotypes that we hold of ourselves.”
What actions do you take to help lift others?
Over the years, I've taught thousands of women how to negotiate effectively using the L.A.T.T.E. negotiation method, which I wrote in my 2nd book, Don't Leave Money on The Table Negotiation Strategies for Women. Creating this method is the action I am most humbled by because it has emphasized that negotiation is a conversation, not a battle, which has shifted the mindset of women and encouraged them to take agency in their careers and life.
Favorite self-care ritual:
My favorite self-care ritual is early morning meditation mixed with the practice of yoga, followed by a sugar-free lavender latte! Although, the latte itself is a self-care ritual that I enjoy several times a day!
What is your best negotiation tip?
My best negotiation tip is to use the L.A.T.T.E Negotiation method and ask open-ended questions to gain deeper insight into developing your negotiation strategy.
